Roberto Alagna and friends – live in Puerto Rico

This DVD was made by CulturArte de Puerto Rico from the live recording of Roberto Alagna singing with the Puerto Rico Symphony on February 7, 2004 in the Luis A. Ferré Centro de Bellas Artes in San Juan.

That said, you would expect to see Roberto Alagna when the disc starts—not so! First you get three minutes of Kathleen Jones playing the beautiful clarinet solo opening of the third act of Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, conducted by Eugene Kohn. Opera News called her work “superb” and says “Kohn leads a fine orchestra.”

Oh, also appearing are Roberto Alagna, Nathalie Manfrino, Kate Aldrich, and Cristopher Schaldenbrand (tenor, soprano, mezzo-soprano and baritone, respectively) in arias by Verdi, Bizet, Massenet, Delibes, Bellini, Donizetti, and Arrieta, with two bonus tracks including Inconsolable, by Rafael Hernandez, and Puccini, with Eugene Kohn at the piano.
