Kathleen Jones commissioned this unaccompanied work in 1984 to play in London at Pamela Weston’s International Clarinet Congress in August. The first performance was given at the Robert Marcellus Master Classes in June of 1984. This recording is on Sierra’s disc entitled Chamber works (Musica de camara,) released in 1987 by VRAS Productions. The ending of the fifth Boceto (Sketch) is according to the second version Sierra wrote. The published edition (recorded on Caribe Clarinete) is the third version. [Website Roberto Sierra]
